In order to arrange artists to get involved with our events, we utilised contacts that were in indie bands in Birmingham. We asked as many as possible until we had found four that were available to take part. We thought that four would be an appropriate number as three seemed too little, and we also had reassurance in case one dropped out or couldn't make it last minute. I (Rosie) had contacted and liaised with the three supporting artists, and Izak had contacted and liaised with the headline band.
Before contacting the bands, we had discussed what kind of genre of artists we were looking for, and that included indie and alternative bands. I selectively chose which bands to contact by categorising their sound.
The four artists consisted of: Samuel Rogers - an acoustic singer, Handwaxx - 4 piece band, Headshrinkers - 4 piece band and SKETCH - 4 piece band (Headliners).
When thinking of stage orders and times, we ensured to ask the bands first on what they were comfortable with, as some were fairly new bands or had more experience than others. Samuel Rogers didn't mind, so we put him first as we felt that putting an acoustic singer first before four full bands would make the live dynamic smoother. Headshrinkers were a new band so they wanted to go second, Handwaxx were experienced but it had been a while since their last gig and didn't want to headline so they were third, and SKETCH were experienced in headlining so we put them as our headliners.
We ensured that all of the bands were kept frequently updated and made ourselves seem approachable so that they were comfortable in telling us if they had issues or questions with anything.
